Survival of the Illest 2009 featuring Slick Rick, Rahzel and the Beatnuts was a total success. The Portland Hip Hop Community has never experienced a show that brought so many great artists on one stage. Local greats such as Pale Soul, Rocket One, Fabulous Saturdays, Bad Habitat, Diezel P and OP1 of True Shine Studios showed everyone how much talent there is in the Portland Hip Hop Scene. The show went down at The Roseland Theater, thanks to them for hosting the event in their house. Lunatik Clothing was there at the Roseland Theater, they have some really fresh shirts.

Survival of the Illest

Survival of the Illest featured performances from some of Portland Hip Hop’s freshest artists including Bad Habitat of Surreal Music, Fabulous Saturdays and more. The show also featured breakdancing, emcee battles and live artwork. Some of Portland’s best young hip hop artists came out and painted are live at the show. We had airbrush painters, graffiti artists and oil/acrylic painters doing portraits of Slick Rick. Needless to say it was an ill show. Survival of the Illest 2009 was killer. We hope to bring you another Survival of the Illest in the future. Hopefully future Survival of the Illest shows will feature such legends as the first one.
